Good
contact between V-belts and pulley grooves is essential.
This is ensured by using pulleys according to standard.
Worn pulleys should be replaced in order to secure
proper operation of the drive and long V-belt life.
The grooves of the pulleys must be clean.
Checking V- belt pulleys
and shafts
Before
installing the V-belts, check that the pulleys are
aligned and the shafts parallel. Sufficiently accurate
checking can ordinarily be carried out by placing
a straightedge or string along the side of the pulleys.
Installation of V-belts
Never
lever V-belts over the pulleys, because that could
damage the power transmitting cords and reduce
belt life considerably. Consequently, it must
be possible to reduce the centre distance so much
that the V-belts can be fitted loosely into the
pulley grooves.
